You Don’t Have to Travel to Africa for an Authentic Safari

Hidden in the hills of Santa Rosa lies one of the area’s greatest attractions – perfect for a family vacation. Safari West is a 400-acre wildlife preserve that offers daily tours and vacation lodging. If you and your family have been searching for a kid-friendly getaway that adults will enjoy as well, this is the spot. The park features a wide range of wildlife from cheetahs to buffalos, giraffes to monkeys, and much more. Some of the animals have free range of the safari land and even come right up to the vehicles on the tour.

Hop on one of the Safari vehicles and take a 3-hour trip visiting the ninety species that live in the park. If you prefer, you can take a shorter walking tour to see smaller animals such as monkeys, flamingos, foxes, and hogs. The Safari West tour guides are specially trained to know as much information about the animals as they possibly can. They love the animals, and it shows.

If you’re looking for an overnight weekend getaway, Safari West offers an immersive Glamping experience. The luxurious on-site tents and cottages put you right in the middle of the wildlife. Bungalow-style rooms feature personal bathrooms and hardwood floors. Your stay will include a continental breakfast, while fancier wining and dining packages can be purchased.

The park also markets itself as a great experience for large adult groups. Bachelor and bachelorette parties are commonly held there. The restaurant near the entrance of the park offers fine dining paired with alcoholic beverages your group can take on the safari ride. The Savannah Cafe offers an outdoor dining experience complete with a fire pit, wooden tables, and vine covered trees. The restaurants offer a various selection of wines and beers from both Sonoma County and South Africa.

Whether you’re looking for a family activity or a special event experience, Safari West is a fun for all destination spot. Its peak times are May-September, so make sure to book in advance. Check out their website for prices and more information.
