Sonoma County’s Spookiest Halloween 2021: Kids Edition

Sonoma County may be known for beautiful vineyards and cute towns, but don’t overlook our festive spirit. When Halloween comes around, Sonoma turns spooky. You’ll see for yourself when you walk through some of our favorite neighborhoods. If you’re looking for some spooky trick-or-treat spots to take your kids, here are our recommendations.

Healdsburg

Healdsburg Farmers Market Pumpkin Festival – the farmers market will be hosting their 37th annual pumpkin festival and costume competition. The activities include pumpkin carving, pumpkin decorating with wheels and a costume competition! There will be three age categories (7 and under); (8 to 15) and (16 – Adult). Howl-o-ween Dog Costume Parade & Contest at the Healdsburg Plaza. Don’t this super cute event with a parade of adorable pooches in costume, a contest and of course live music. More info and registration here

Santa Rosa

Trunk – Or – Treat – Enjoy a safe and free place to Trick-or-Treat from the trunks of decorated public safety vehicles. The event will take place at the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot. RSVP here is you plan to join!

Downtown Tick or Treating & Costume Contest – Come dressed in costume and trick or treat at participating* Downtown Santa Rosa stores and restaurants. Candy will be available from 4pm to 6pm or while supply lasts. There will also be a contest for the best costume – kids, adults and even your furry friends!

Movie Night at the Square – following the downtown trick or treating the city will be presenting Disney’s classic Hocus Pocus (PG). Remember to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and warm coats!

FUNtazmagoria – the Children’s Museum will transform into a family-friendly Mad Scientist and Glow in the Dark Art Studio. They will have a walk through experience with potions, creepy critters, and electric exploration. Get all the details here

Windsor

Town of Windsor Trick or Treat Trail – the Town of Windsor is putting together a spooktacular Halloween event for the little ones. You will need to pre-register for this event, which promises to have lots of fun games and tons of candy. Register here

SWD Haunted House – Studio W will be converting their dace studio into a haunted house, spooky but not completely terrifying. The event is geared towards kids ages 7+. Admission will be $10. Buy Ticket Here

Cloverdale

Halloween Double Feature – Enjoy a scary Halloween movie from the comfort of your own car. The perfect family activity – don’t want to drive? Leave the car at home and walk-in with your own seat. Buy your ticket here

Rohnert Park

Halloween Carnival & Día de los Muertos – the Rohnert Park community service department is planning a spooky carnival for all ages, the activities will include carnival games, magicians, a haunted maze, costume parade and a live animal experience. Petaluma

Hallowluma Spooky Drive Thru – Drive through the Petaluma Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, where local businesses will be handing out goodies for the kids and making a fun and spooky experience. Decorate you car and come in Costume! Registration is required

Drive-In Movie (Ghostbusters) – Parks and Recreation is putting on a show with this Halloween drive-in special, Ghostbusters. All you have to do is pre-register, drive and be on time! Register Here

6th Annual Halloween Covers Show – the Phoenix theater will be hosting a wide range of cover bands so you can sign your heart out to the best Halloween inspired tunes. Get your tickets here

Sonoma

The Great Pumpkin Party – this party is set to not disappoint! There will be arts and crafts, food, drinks, live music and a pumpkin carving contest! So start brushing those carving skills asap. For more details go here
