If you’re looking for local wines that pair well with a full turkey spread, here are our Sonoma county recommendations. Generally, Pinot Noir, Syrah and lighter Zinfandels are wonderful red wines and if you’d prefer white, go with Viognier, Dry Riesling or Pinot Gris. Bonus points for not having to go far to get them, and for keeping your money here at home.
Reds
- Merry Edwards Winery – Pinot Noir
- Dutton Estate Winery – Syrah
- Lake Sonoma Winery – Old Vine Zinfandel
Whites
- Cline Cellars – Viognier
- Jolie-Laide Wines – Pinot Gris
- Azari Vineyards and Winery – Riesling
For something a little different, how about trying some of Sonoma’s Italian style wines? Give Unti Vineyards a try. We suggest their Vermentino for a white and their Montepulciano for a red.
Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t mean that you have to serve the same vinegary old plonk that your grandpa used to get at the gas station. We’re lucky enough to live in a world-class wine region and that, my friends, is something to be truly thankful for.
