How To Spend Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is coming up and we are all excited to spend the long weekend remembering family members or loved ones who have served. It’s the best time to get together with friends and share memories and experiences. Here’s how to celebrate in Sonoma County.

A Russian River Float

Grab your rafts and hit the water at the riverside beaches in Guerneville or Healdsburg. Nothing says summertime quite like lounging in the sand or taking a dip. Make sure to get there early to claim your parking and river spots, the river will be packed! Don’t have your own equipment? Check one of these awesome spots for a rental: River’s Edge Kayak & Canoe Trips; Burke’s Canoe Trips; You Can Kayak Rentals or Russian River Paddle Boards.

A Backyard Barbecue

Keep it casual by inviting your neighbors, friends, and family over to your house for a barbecue. If you don’t feel like doing the cooking, call up BBQ Spot Catering or Sweet T’s Restaurant in Windsor to fill up your guests with their Southern style eats! Hello spicy ribs and mac and cheese. If you are a grill master then check out our guide to some of the best butchers around Sonoma County here.

A Day of Tasting

Grab an experience pass from WineRoad for access to a complimentary tastings, 10% wine purchases and more deals in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys. Or build your own tasting tour with one of our driving guides and show your relatives the beauty of Sonoma County on this special weekend.

A Minute of Silence

Have a minute of silent with your family to honor all those who have fallen protecting our country.
