Get Out and Play this Labor Day Weekend with these Local Events

Labor Day is almost here and everyone is looking forward to the three-day weekend. You’re ready to relax and enjoy this holiday by getting out and doing something fun. We’re right there with you! Whether you want to go wine tasting, enjoy some live music, or see a show, there’s a lot to do. Here are some fun events happening this Labor Day weekend.

Taste of Sonoma

Nothing says kicking back and relaxing like a glass of wine. Sonoma County’s favorite Labor Day event is back for another fantastic year. Taste of Sonoma features wine and food tasting, panels, and live music.

The event takes place on August 31st at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center. Gates are open from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. General admission is $180. You can purchase tickets here.

Outdoor Live Music

Let loose and have fun at these live music events.

Funky Fridays is a summer concert series at the historic Hood Mansion in Santa Rosa. Come check out the last show of the season on August 30th. The Funky Dozen will put on a lively show with hits from the 70s to the 90s. Doors open at 5:30 and general admission is $10. Kids 18 and under are free.

Friday Night Live at the Plaza is Cloverdale’s summer concert series. Join for the last concert of the season on August 30th. Along with music, there is a street fair with food vendors, arts and crafts for sale, and kids’ activities. Doors open at 6:00 pm.

Montgomery Village Free Rockin’ Concerts is a summer concert series in Santa Rosa. On August 31st and September 1st, listen to tribute bands while sipping on wine and beer. The concerts are from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. You can also check out Montgomery Village’s Labor Day Weekend Sale while you’re there.

See a Movie or Show

Check out Santa Rosa’s Movies in the Park at Howarth Park. On August 30th, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and watch The Lego Movie 2. The movie starts at 7:45 pm.

At Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, catch the popular Mexican comedian Teo Gonzalez. This performance is in Spanish only. The show is on September 1st at 7:00 pm. Ticket prices vary depending on seating. You can buy tickets online here.

At Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma, catch the musical Little Shop of Horrors. This sci-fi musical featuring a giant flesh-eating plant has been a hit for over 30 years. The show is held from August 30th to September 22nd. On Fridays and Saturdays, the show begins at 7:30 pm and on Sundays catch the matinee at 2:00 pm. General admission is $45.
