With the plethora of wine in the area, local vendors had to perfect the art of cheese to go along with that glass of white or red. What better way to taste all the cheese flavors than at one of the many creameries? Here are some of our must-stop spots.
1. Vella Cheese Company
Located right in the cute and quaint Sonoma square is Vella Cheese. This specialty cheese market has thousands of naturally-made choices. It’s the perfect place to grab some smoked gouda, a savory salami and a bottle of wine to enjoy out on the grass in the square. Did I mention they serve free samples? Hello free cheese!
2. Bohemian Creamery
If you’re heading out West you must stop by Bohemian Creamery. This rustic creamery sits atop a hillside just outside of downtown Sebastopol. They specialize in goat, cow, sheep, and buffalo cheeses. Take a tour of the farm grounds for only $20 and experience first-hand how their cheeses are crafted.
3. Freestone Artisan Cheese
This small cheese shop near the Russian River sells hand-crafted cheeses, crackers, locally made honey, jams, chocolates and more. You can even order a cheesy crepe here. Talk about a perfect dinner!
